Golf In Costa Blanca and Costa Calida

by Carole Exton in Golf
European golf holidays……”You can’t beat the Costa del Sol”…..”We always go to the Algarve, it’s the best” , these are some of the quotes I hear from many of my potential clients and I am fairly sure they must have never played golf in the Southern Costa Blanca or Costa Calida. I cannot argue that there are many other places to visit, but we do really have it all in this beautiful region of South East Spain. Firstly, it is easily accessible from all over Northern Europe with hundreds of flights per week into Alicante or Murcia San Javier airports. We have the weather  (avoid July & August it’s just too hot for serious golf), the perfect time to play is from mid-February till end of May and  early September through till end of November. We have some lovely cities to visit including Alicante, Murcia and Cartagena, we have great award winning beaches and our own little sea (The Mar Menor) and we have some amazing restaurants to sample the local cuisine. But most importantly we are able to boast over 30 fantastic golf resorts and courses all located within 1 hours’ drive, including the world famous La Manga Club with its choice of 3 courses all located on the complex, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club which has just been voted “Spain’s Best Golf Course” at the 2015 World Golf Awards, La Finca Golf Resort with its superb 5* Scandinavian style hotel and also The Mar Menor Golf Resort where you can choose to play any of the SIX Jack Nicklaus designed courses. Having recently completed some intense research I am also pleased to say that the cost of golfing here is significantly lower than in Costa del Sol or the Algarve so value for money along with a quality product is what can be found. For example, you could stay at Mar Menor Golf Resort in one of their delightfully furnished 4* apartments for 3 nights with breakfast and play 3 rounds on any of the Nicklaus courses (with shuttle transfers) to each course from only € 195 per person during May this year, or upgrade to the 5* Intercontinental Hotel on the same resort and pay only € 335 per person for the same itinerary. There really is something to cover all budgets, and if you have never tried it here, then what are you waiting for? Escape the wind and rain and come and play some sunshine golf on some of the most breath taking courses in Europe. Andy Walsh Director – Costa Calida Golf Tours For more information see www.ccgt.co.uk
